Corals have built in their genetic code the ability to adapt to various environmental conditions. These animals have more genetic information then they use at any given time. You have recessive genes and dominant genes. The information for corals to adapt have always been there the whole time. This is nothing more then nature instilling into the coral the genetic make up for the coral to have the ability for them to modify and adapt to various environmental conditions. Some say even grafting is possible along with hybridization.
