Many corals, especially those in our home reefs, consume phytoplankton in one way shape or form. Whether it is directly or indirectly through another organism such as copepods.
Filter feeders, most sponges, most soft corals, most clams, feather-duster worms, utilize phytoplankton, even animals in the water column, termed zooplankton, use phytoplankton.
